Famous actor George Takei has spoken out in support of gay rights and anti-hate sentiment towards Muslims. He spoke live at a statewide rally in Sacramento last year, where he attacked the Constitutionality of anti-gay and racist legislation. On a more recent note, he spoke last weekend at Honolulu's "No Shame!: Talking About the Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender Experience in Hawai'i." Being gay himself, Takei is an outspoken advocate for many Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender organizations. Through these groups he makes numerous public announcements promoting equality and tolerance. Furthermore, having survived Japanese internment during World War Two, Takei fears for Muslims who may suffer similar treatment because of the September 11th attacks.
In conclusion, George Takei has spoken about tolerating gays and other minorities, specifically Muslims. He spoke last week in Honolulu, Hawaii. Because he is gay and has suffered racial injustices, he feels that he should advocate for equality.
I believe that what George Takei is doing is very brave and constructive for society. It is brave because publicly announcing being gay can be a very hard thing to do. I think that it is good for society because I believe in racial tolerance and equal gay rights.
